each day according to me

My Graphic Diary

This series of books uses the practice of keeping a diary of my every-day. This is largely inspired by the French-Canadian comic Julie Doucet whose Dirty Plotte series is an autobiographical rendering of the goings-on of each day in her life. ‘My Graphic Diary’ is a series I began during Lock-down and I have decided to publish it in monthly-installments because it is not a finite book, or at least I can’t see the end of it coming anytime soon as it is simply me rendering and writing something about each day as it passes- as one does in a diary.

The drawings and the text are not on equal planes; in some instances the one is privileged over the other however both have been instrumental to me in communicating my every-day. The drawings are done in ink on paper and the text is handwritten, I then scan each page into my computer and compile the pages in book-form.

This book is another testament to what I believe is the disjointedness of identity; each page is a new day and a new experience with contradicting emotions and beliefs as the different facets of identity shift shapes and appear in a different light.
